Project "MUNCH"
Malnutrition in UNderprivileged CHildren
ISSUE
Lack of proper nutrition, caused by not having enough to eat, not eating enough of the right things, or being unable to use the food that one does eat.
SOLUTION
Child Aid Lanka contributed to majority of the funding with Rotary Club and Well-wishers in canvassing this project in Mullaitivu area and helped 111 children.
The purpose was to work with parents and teachers of children aged 6-10 years to transfer knowledge and skills on childcare and development and thus make a permanent positive change in their practices on proper nutrition, hygiene and sanitation.
We funded to feed the children for 18 weeks on 846935 Rupees. That’s 84 rupees per child per day given that there are 111 children with breakfast five days a week. At this rate, the money might stretch more than a year (51 schools weeks predicted, assuming 5 days a week, 111 children, one meal each school day, 420 rupees/pound, 84 rupees per meal)!
