Sapphire Ball at the Troxy Grand Hall - 2016

[organised by the Sri Lankan Society of Imperial college]

The lights sparkled, the wine flowed, the band played and the people danced - what a great way to do charity work! This year's Sapphire Ball marks the 10th anniversary of the event and was again held at the fabulous and renowned Troxy Grand Hall in London. Organised by the Sri Lankan Society of Imperial College London, this annual event has always given all of its proceeds to charities working in Sri Lanka. Having donated a significant sum to Child Aid Lanka last year, the society was kind enough to donate the entire proceeds of this year's ball to this charity.

The trustees of Child Aid Lanka wish to express their thanks to the Sri Lankan Society of Imperial College for this year's phenomenal donation and also for their fantastic support last year. In a statement Child Aid Lanka said 'Superb organisation, slavish attention to detail and lots of hard work by the organising committee resulted in a superb event with exquisite food and lavish entertainment and most importantly of all, the chance to help those less fortunate in a country ravaged by decades of war. This is a fantastic example of unity and we urge other societies not only in the UK but elsewhere to follow this example. We look forward to working with Imperial College on future fund-raising projects, thank you again!'
