Trustees' Biographies

Naomi Aruliah - Chair

Photo of Naomi AruliahNaomi has been involved in charity work focusing on Sri Lanka for 30 years; having been president for the Methodist College Old Girls Association and Child Aid Lanka on many occasions. She is the founder of Child Aid Lanka and has worked relentlessly to build it to its current position. The impetus for setting up Child Aid Lanka came from a visit in 1998 to a prison in North Colombo where very young children were being held for child sex and petty offences due to deprived and disadvantaged circumstances. There was little attempt to rehabilitate them and Naomi decided to set up a charity to help all unfortunate children in Sri Lanka under the guiding principle of “helping children help themselves”.

Being a Sri Lankan he has a strong affinity with the land and its people and has recently become a trustee in order to help take Child Aid Lanka forward and achieve its new ambitious goals.
