Origin of Child Aid Lanka

In 1998 a group of expatriate Sri Lankans, with the support of the Sri Lanka Past Pupils Associations [SLPPA], came together to raise funds to help children in the city of Colombo who had been abused. A fundraising event was organised on the 29th of November 1998.

These efforts brought together people from across all divides of Sri Lanka’s politically fragmented community. To maintain and build on the enthusiasm and friendship they had generated, and in a desire to achieve more to help underprivileged children in Sri Lanka, they decided to form an association – that became Child Aid Lanka.
